    Description

There were six cities in Germany named Neustadt that issued emergency coins (notgeld) during the WWII. Only one of the Neustadts issued a municipal coin, and all the emergency coins from the other five Neustadts were privately issued. All are quite scarce. This coin is one of the private issues from the city Neustadt in Silesia (which is in Poland today). It was issued by S. Frankel. The only other example of this type I could find is a somewhat corroded one currently offered for sale on MAshops in Germany for more than . It is listed in the old German catalog by Menzel as #10121, and also in the 1970 Upton catalog (by the Emergency Money Society). This coin will be a real bargain, with an opening bid of only .99.
