Description
Up for sale is an excellent vintage advertising ink blotter with a humorous illustration that truly captures the spirit of the post-War "peppy, go getting" business philosophy. This blotter was produced for the Metal Goods Corporation (MGC) which had offices and warehouses in St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, New Orleans, Houston, Denver, and Dallas. MGC was promoting "tube-turn (brand of) Welding Fittings and Flanges".
The cartoon was done by the artist "ZIM" and a man trying to stay asleep while an irritated personified alarm clock rings. The caption says:
the amount of sleep
required by the average
person is about
five
minutes more
At the very bottom left corner appears: "TT389-66-852" . (The TT likely stands for Tube Turn, but I don't know the significance of the remainder of characters.) At the very bottom right corner appears "Printed in U.S.A.". The blotter is very likely from 1952. It was date stamped as having been received on September 23, 1952.
This advertising ink blotter is oriented vertically and measures 9 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
Please see above for full description of condition and for photos. Sold as is. Please note: I have several other advertising ink blotter for sale, include one very similar to this one (listing is called "Can Do Motivational Ink Blotter"). I will be happy to combine postage. If you buy more than one blotter, I will send you an invoice reflecting the combined postage.
