    Description

    Note the "item specifics" above

During WW I due to shortages of legitimate coinage which was caused by various conditions at the time, Municipalities and private parties printed their own notes and minted their own coins known as Notgeld (emergency money).  Notgeld continued through 1923-24 and the hyperinflation period of the Weimar Republic.  As time passed certain notgeld notes and coins, such as the porcelain, became more collector's items
    than currency.
Many thousands of different varieties were made.
Meissen Porcelain was one of the largest makers of the porcelain coins.
These were made in a variety of colors and designs, as well as gold gilded edges or with colored glazing. Some porcelain coins were minted by the tens of thousands and others had very low mintages of less than 200 and are extremely rare today
    .
