    Hopi Style German
    Silver BEAR PAW Overlay Belt Buckle by D&J Coats, Taos, New Mexico, Southwest Belt Buckle.  This belt buckle is in good condition with some scratches & two small dings on the edge, shown in the last photo.  Lightly etched on the back it is signed by the artist: D & J Coats, Taos, New Mexico.  It's stamped Sterling, but David Coats was known for his fine German Silver overlay work, so I'm calling it German Silver.  The buckle measures 2 1/2" x 1 3/4" & it will accommodate a 1 1/4" belt or smaller, making it appropriate for a man or woman.  It has a Native American style bear paw overlay that really pops out.  It's a nicely made overlay belt buckle for anyone who enjoys the Southwestern look.  It will look great with a pair of jeans.
