George S Kausler Limited Insurance New Orleans Louisiana Vtg Ink Blotter c. 1950

Description

Up for sale is a vintage ink blotter that advertises the services of one of the more historic insurance agencies in New Orleans.
George S. Kausler, Limited was founded his namesake company in 1895, after spending several years in the employ of other insurance firms.  [His father, of the same name, had originally come to New Orleans in 1835 and was a major figure in the cotton industry (presses and mills).]  He was educated at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.  The Kausler, Limited firm had its headquarters in the Hibernia Bank Building (at 812 Gravier St., near the corner of Carondelet St.)  At the time this ink blotter was issued, the officers were:  M. V. Higbee (President), Chas. P. Gould (Vice-President), and A. J. Guesnon (Secretary and Treasurer).  I would estimate that this blotter was issued in about 1950.  Note the phone number:  Raymond 8513.  The RA phone exchange was created in 1928 and was converted, in 1957 to JAckson 5.
This blotter measures 8 inches wide by 3.75 inches tall.
