    Description

This blotter was produced for Eagle brand “Pure White Lead” paint and then individualized for individual painters. It measures 3.5 x 6 inches.
The company started in 1842 as the White Lead Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. A merger with the Picher Lead Company of Joplin, Missouri took place in 1906. The company was renamed Eagle-Picher Lead, which evolved into Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc. and finally EaglePicher Technologies. With its merger with the lead mining company owned by Oliver Picher, it was the second-largest producer of lead and zinc products in the world.
The use of lead in paint was banned by Congress in 1978.
Lead was added to paint to accelerate drying, increase durability, maintain a fresh appearance, and resist moisture that causes corrosion.
