Description
Up for sale is an excellent vintage advertising ink blotter with a humorous illustration that perfectly captures the spirit of the post-War "can do" business philosophy. This blotter was produced for the Metal Goods Corporation (MGC) which had offices and warehouses in St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa, New Orleans, Houston, Denver, and Dallas. MGC was promoting "tube-turn (brand of) Welding Fittings and Flanges".
The cartoon was done by the artist "ZIM" and shows two businessmen. One appears fearful and is being pushed out of the way by another (who looks a bit younger, is more handsome, and has a fuller head of hair) who is clearly focused on his business goal (presumably of meeting customer expectations). The caption says:
nowadays people who say
it can't be done
are being interrupted by
someone else doing it
This blotter is not dated. At the very bottom left corner appears: "TT389B-68-1052" . (The TT likely stands for Tube Turn, but I don't know the significance of the remainder of characters.) At the very bottom right corner appears "Printed in U.S.A.". The blotter is not dated but I suspect that it is from about 1952. A similarly themed blotter from the same company (that I also have for sale on e-Bay) was date stamped as having been received on September 23, 1952.
This advertising ink blotter is oriented vertically and measures 9 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
Please note: I have several other advertising ink blotters for sale, include one very similar to this one (listing is called "Peppy Motivational Ink Blotter"). I will be happy to combine postage. If you buy more than one blotter, I will send you an invoice reflecting the combined postage.
Please see above for full description of condition and for photos. Sold as is.

Attention International Buyers: Unfortunately, it appears that international shipping from the US (via the USPS) has become unreliable, because of the pandemic. Therefore, I have decided to remove the international shipping option. You are still welcome to bid on this item, but will need to supply a shipping address in the US. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.
