Brown & Bigelow Ink Blotter Calendar 1953 Golden Minarets of Karaman Noel Leaver

Description

Up for sale is an excellent vintage pictorial advertising ink blotter and calendar featuring an impressive painting by a noted artist who had recently passed away.  The dimensions (9 inches tall by just under 4 inches wide) are such that it was likely placed in a standard business envelope.
At the top of the card, occupying a space that measures about 5.25 inches by just under 4 inches, is a painting entitled
"Golden Minarets of Karaman"
by "Noel Leaver".  Just underneath is the following description:  "Pirates and many wars have figured in Karaman's obscure history.  Its minarets, mosque and castle are remnants of a past splendor."
Noel Harry Leaver (1889 - 1951) was a highly respected English painter and teacher.  He won a national scholarship to the Royal College of Art at age 16 and, by age 21, was a full associate  of that institution.  He won a traveling scholarship that allowed him to study in and tour Italy in 1911.  In 1912, using another scholarship from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Leaver was able to return to Italy and the Mediterranean.  On his return he taught at the Halifax School of Art and the Burnley School of Art.
My research online shows that Leaver painted similar scenes of minarets and mosques, but I have not been able to find the title
"Golden Minarets of Karaman"
nor this exact image.
Karaman is a city and a province in south central Turkey.  It gets it name from the Karamanid Dynasty which ruled the area for over 200 years between the 13th and 15th Centuries.
Beneath the image and caption described above is the advertising portion of the card.  This reads:
A dose of adversity is often as needful as
a dose of medicine.

Beneath this is the 3 month calendar with June, 1953 in the center.  May and July, 1953 flank the featured month and are somewhat smaller.
At the very bottom in small type the following appears:  "32546 Printed by Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul, Minn., U.S.A."
I do not believe that the firm of Frank J. Matthew Company is still in operation.  I was able to find an advertisement the firm took in 1963 in the
Clarion Herald
.  It reads in part:  "We consider it a privilege to be able to be of service to the ever progressing Archdiocese."  The ad goes on to list the names of six different New Orleans churches and schools that the Company had painted in the last year.  I also found the firm's name linked to the opening of the famous Saenger Theater in New Orleans in 1927.
