    Description

This Quite-exceptional 1971 Land-Rover short wheelbase station wagon has been the subject of a 4-year restoration by Dare Britannia, Ltd. and it is ready for its next owner. We stripped the entire body (on-chassis) and resprayed it in the original factory Poppy Red color both inside and out. About 18 years ago we sold this vehicle to a local couple and the wife drove it to work every day for more than a decade. With family challenges they sidelined it only because of health concerns. It remains fitted with its original 2 ¼-litre petrol engine and gearbox which are in good-running condition. The chassis, as well, is very strong and with proper care should last for many years. In a dry climate it should never need attention. All the window channels have been replaced as has the weather stripping around the doors and dash ventilators. All the main body seals have been renewed. The Land-Rover includes our correctly-restored factory steering wheel, horn button and dust cover, turn signal switch assembly and a freshly-galvanized front bumper. All lamps are Genuine LUCAS or their nearly-identical replacements. Includes original factory front floor mats….very rare!! This machine is fitted with a WEBER 32-36 DGV two-barrel carburetor with a correct PIERCE inlet manifold….which assures more brisk acceleration and higher top speeds. This is the only modification to this machine, originality always being an advantage in my professional opinion! (Dare Britannia, Ltd., aside from having the most spectacular inventory of rare and "unobtainable" parts, are the winners of approximately 60 international restoration awards for our work. This station wagon features all original LUCAS electricals (yes we love Lucas….on these vehicles they are excellent!!). The radiator exterior is dry and rot-free. The mileage showing on the odometer is 26,595. It is surmised that the actual miles might be 126,595 although we have no specific history of the vehicle before we acquired it. Mileage aside vehicles like this from Dare Britannia are known to endure valiantly for decades. I
am the owner of Dare Britannia LTD. This vehicle is being sold from my private collection not by Dare Britannia LTD.
Less and less these days is the vintage Land-Rover restored to this high a standard of excellence, making this a special opportunity. For us this is the minimum acceptable level of fit and finish in my shop. While this description might not seem immediately appealing, "better" restorations than this tend to start at 0,000.00 and take years to complete. (Be willing to wait in line, possibly for several years) Dare Britannia has no plans to start any more restorations at this point, given that our restorations division is backed up now for more than 3 years, with a waiting line behind that....which might be the reason that 1 of our restorations was featured in Land-Rover Lifestyle magazine in the article, "Six of America's Best Land-Rovers".
