    Description

Montana's Most Trusted Name in Metals for Over 45 Years!
The inside of the box reads "Barbarossa in the Kyffhauser 1923." The Kyffhauser is a hill range in central Germany, and also happens to be the final resting place of Frederick Barbarossa, also known as Freidrich I, Holy Roman Emperor. The man was so beloved and respected that a legend still stands that he never really died, but is simply slumbering beneath the Kyffhauser hills, waiting for his country's greatest hour of need to arise and lead them out of peril.
The coins themselves are a bit tougher for us to translate perfectly. Though they mention, directly and indirectly respectively, his mother's house of Welf, and his father's family home, Waiblingen Castle.
The coins are struck in porcelain, and are more like classic art medallions than actual coins. This is a really, really lovely set, and we are more than confident they will make an equally lovely addition to your collection.
