: This is an early blotter from Luther E. Ellison (see below), Lawyer in Winthrop NY. Has a lengthy "Guide" from Thomas Van Alstyne (Cornell graduate, found among his papers after his death as an Electrical Engineer). Bottom states "Agent for the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co.". Few spots & top right corner is chipped. Back is blank, has age spots

Luther Earle Ellison
, 58, a widely known attorney, of Winthrop, died at 12:45 Friday morning at his home in that village.
Mr. Ellison, who was a lawyer in Winthrop for 26 years, was born on a farm between Potsdam and Norwood, March 31, 1868, the son of Wayland and Eliza Burnham Ellison, and He was married to Miss Maude Stearns of Winthrop, March 8, 1896 and they moved to Chicago where they lived for three years. Since their return they have resided in Winthrop.
He was a member of the Universalist church, Brasher lodge, F. & A. M, Nicholville chapter R. A. M. and I. 0. 0. F and Masonic Commandery. He was also a director of the Winthrop National bank.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Paul S., advertising manager of Balke-Callendar company of Chicago, and Earl of Saranac Lake; two brothers of Kansas City, Mo., and Arthur of San Gabriels, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Addie Morgan of California.
Burial was made in the Winthrop cemetery.
